Happy Thanksgiving from Hope Gardens, Our Charity Partner

As you probably know by now, women’s charities have a special place in our hearts. We donate 10% of our profits to women-centered charities, and Hope Gardens is one of them. So this Thanksgiving we really wanted to celebrate the women at Hope Gardens. We went down to the shelter last week and sat down with some of the ladies.

Thanksgiving was in full swing when we arrived at Hope Gardens last Friday. They celebrate early because all Downtown L.A. rescues take turns celebrating Thanksgiving throughout the week, so they can provide the most they can for the homeless in collaboration with each other. Volunteers cooked through the night, and there was an abundance of food, desserts, music, crafts and entertainment. Celena, one of the volunteers at Hope Gardens, told us that it’s really important for the women to have this type of community and belonging, since the Holidays can be especially hard.

The Thanksgiving meal Hope Gardens and the collaborative rescue put together, served 3000 adults and their families. It was an eye-opening experience to witness all Hope Gardens does, and the community they have built for homeless women. With L.A.’s Downtown Fashion District only a couple blocks away from Skid Row, the contrast couldn’t be more significant. But the women at Hope Gardens were warm, courageous, and inspiring. And on that note, we want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!
