The Coral Beach Club in Montecito, CA is one of those illustrious clubs you read about in glossy magazines or see mentioned in celebrity profiles.  It’s beautiful, glamorous, and exclusive: it’s a private members club.  However, the good news is that guests staying at the Biltmore Hotel across the tiny beach road are also able to enjoy the Coral Beach Club.  And that is exactly what we did last week.

Setting foot on the grounds of the Coral Beach Club feels like stepping into another world.  One where the past of Old Hollywood glamour still lingers.  Situated atop Butterfly Beach, the club has one of the most stunning lap pools in the world.  It’s interesting to note that the pool was intentionally built a few meters longer than an Olympic pool just so no swimming event could ever be held at the Coral.  (Another way to remain exclusive.)  The views across the Pacific, with Santa Barbara in the distance, truly are breathtaking.  It almost feels as if you’re on a cruise ship surrounded by water.

Start the day with a few laps in the pool. Have lunch in their outdoor restaurant and after lunch, take a walk down a short stairway right to Butterfly Beach (you can leave all your stuff at the pool) and maybe come back up for a cocktail. It seriously doesn’t get any better than that!
